Are you looking for ways to upgrade your home without breaking the bank? Updating your home can be time-consuming, and costly; making simple changes can affect your home’s value in the future. Make a plan and start small – most of these larger-scale projects will take more time, and it’s important to remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day!
Here are some tips to increase the value of your home:
- Update your kitchen – cabinets and appliances
The heart of the home is located in your kitchen, and most homebuyers start with this room first. Take a look at your cabinets and sink fixtures – you can either reface the existing cabinets yourself, or you can reface them by hiring a company. Upgrade sink fixtures and cabinet door handles to make them look fresh and clean. If you’re willing to go with more bang for your buck, you can replace the entire existing cabinetry with a new set from a home improvement store that will install them for you. Always have your budget in mind when doing so – if the idea is to not go crazy with expenses, refacing your cabinets might make more sense. Updating the appliances is important too because it will add another level of improvement. Many appliances now come with all the bells and whistles, so why not invest in classy appliances that match your decor?
- Update the bathroom fixtures, flooring, etc.
The second most important room to update is your bathroom! By installing new toilets, pedestal sinks, and shower/tub it will greatly enhance the look and feel of the bathroom. The bathroom flooring can be an easy fix by installing vinyl tiles, and in some cases these tiles can be placed over the existing floor!
- Increase curb appeal – the main attraction!
Stand outside your home and ask yourself if you have an attractive home? Do you have a good size yard that you can spruce up? Pick up the yard, mow the lawn, plant some flowers. If you have a neat and visually appealing home, many home buyers will be more intrigued to stop and look inside. If you spend as much time adding value to the inside of your home, don’t forget the outside! Most importantly, have fun – upgrading your home can be painful at times, but the end goal will be well worth it if you succeed in making these home improvements!
